Interview with Fat Loss Expert – Caleb Lee

I was fortunate enough to arrange a quick interview with fat loss expert, Caleb Lee. This is a pretty big deal because Caleb Lee is an extremely busy individual who possesses a wealth of knowledge when it comes to dropping body fat and getting super lean and fit. In addition Caleb Lee is the author of my number one favorite diet method, The Super Diet.

1. For those that don’t know much about you, can you tell us how you got started and made a name for yourself in the fitness and health industry?

Well being obsessed with everything fitness and health related since the age of about 12, I’d always been a big “self experimenter”. You see, I’ve been a black belt in Taekwondo for over a decade and I was always looking at ways to get stronger, faster, more explosive, etc — plus, I was a big fan of the “bruce lee look” — ripped to shreds and all that.

So back in the day I used to read all the fitness magazines, anything I could find on the net, etc and tried it all out on myself. Unfortunately, not a lot of it was effective–so it was a process of hacking away at all the non-essential stuff and finding out what worked. Also, doing a LOT of research into what was “real” and what was just myths, or “half truths” about health and weight loss that got repeated again and again throughout the years and always accepted as truth.

So a couple years ago, I got the idea to write a book about everything I had learned, and put it online and just started spreading the word about it and that’s pretty much how it has gotten around.

2. I have been using your superdiet system for around 4 months and have effectively taken my body fat from 13% down to around 7% while maintaining all of my strength levels. It’s the only diet program that has allowed me to get so lean without suffering or feeling deprived. In addition a few of my buddies are now using your system too with fantastic results. Why do you think your super diet program is so effective?

First off, congrats! That’s a great accomplishment. As for why it works so well, I believe that’s because of two things:

1. It works WITH your body’s natural programming, not against it and

2. It is a “bare essentials” program but still flexible.

I’ll cover those two a little bit …

The “diet” system in my book is designed to give your body exactly what it “wants” as based on the current scientific findings, anecdotal evidence, and knowledge of human history. The foods I recommend and the timing of the foods is, I believe, in line with how humans were always supposed to eat. And when you switch to a diet like this — you find that humans were also meant to be pretty active, definitely not sedentary and definitely not fat. So the weight just kind of starts to go away on its own.

Second, the program is focused on the basics and not on the “tiny details” which I think is where a lot of people go wrong. For instance, instead of doing hours of cardio in the morning to burn a maximum of 400-500 calories (if you’re lucky and really going hard) — why not find ways to (easily) manipulate your diet so that you just don’t eat those extra 500 calories that day?

And as long as you know the simple rules about how to do that without feeling deprived, and making it so it works for YOU, then weight loss and maintaining even lower body fat gets really simple.

I take the same approach to exercise too — why spend 6 days a week at the gym when just 2-3x per week will do? Why even go to the gym if you don’t want to? It’s flexible too, so I think that helps.

Thanks Caleb for the Great Interview!

  1. Greg, i think im having a problem with my muscles during ramadan now

i do a 3day split workout but only train 3 sets of 5-6 rep range per muscle part by lifting heavy weights NOT more
perform some low steady state cardio and 1-3 times intervals per week.

but when i woke up this morning i went in front of the mirror and looked leaner than before which was really nice but (strangely) my Biceps arent as hard as they used to be, its weird but when i flex them they softer than before, while they used to be a bit harder

my calves and leggs overall are much more ripped than before and i do triangle push ups for sets of 20 if i want to now (couldnt do even one months ago) but strangely only my biceps are worrying me am i suffering muscle loss or? cause i take in like atleast 60-150g of protein when i eat at 9pm and drink a protein shake at 5am so i dont think thats the problem, but anyways i really dont know whats happening can you help me out?

  2. Hey Greg, I had a question, which diet is better a diet, Omlette, Chicken Salad, and Protein Shake, or Protein Shake, Protein Shake, Chicken Salad? And because of my religion I fast 16 hrs a day. And By the way the diet would only be for 25 days. And I am currently still doing your Sliced and Shredded program if that matters and i do my cardios Tues., Thurs. and Sat. Please Reply soon and I’m sorry that this is unrelated from your post.

  3. Also like I mentioned before I’m fasting 16hrs daily and I can only eat and drink from 8:30 PM to 4:30 AM so since this is my window for drinking water I was thinking if I could stop eating at 12 then do my 35 minutes of cardio at 2:30 AM and eat at 4 AM. Please reply. Thanks.

    • @ Marcus.

Thats the wort thing you can do. Don’t stay up late to workout. You will raise your cortisol levels when they should be down. Instead workout before your dinner. Your growth hormone levels will be through the roof and you will burn a hell of a lot of fat. You’ll just have to suck it up if your hungry.

  4. Hey Greg,

I am 24 years old and once I did swimming for more then 14 years. But after High school I stopped doing any Sport. From this moment on i started to put on weight….fat….some months ago I restarted working out to get my old shape but no way….the fat resists to every kind of sport i do….can you help me??
