Ever wonder why gymnasts have such incredible abs? Probably because they do movements like Hanging Leg Raises, L sits and of course Front Levers.
The front lever is the absolute pinnacle of core strength! By building up to the front lever you will acquire an incredibly strong and muscular midsection. In addition you will gain amazing lat strength that will enhance your current shoulder to waist ratio.
I was first introduced to this exercise when I was vacationing in Los Angeles. I made a trip down to Santa Monica Beach one day and started working out with a bunch of extremely fit guys. Continue reading →
The above video is of quick workout routine that I love to do a few times per week in the morning. Ignore the icepack and piano music (I turned the workout video to pay homage to american pyscho). The purpose of the workout is to strengthen and build my core muscles and to maintain a high degree of flexibility throughout my body. Maintaining flexibility with the exercises from the video has totally eliminated my back pain.
Most of the exercises included in the video are extremely advanced and took me many months to progress to. However there are easier variations you can perform to still get a massive benefit. Below I will discuss the entire workout routine and how you can work up to performing it.
I was at the gym the other day and I bumped into a buddy of mine. After a few minutes of joking he asked me a question that I seem to get more and more frequently.
Chris: “Bro….. how do you get the v abs? you know the sex lines, crotch muscle, v cut, super v, adonis belt, apollo’s belt, illiac furrow………”
I laughed for a second because many of the names he spat out at me I never even heard before…… However lucky for him I know exactly how to build this muscle. I took him through my v abs workout routine and he could totally feel that muscle working for the first time in his life.
The Jackknife Rollout is a terrific core exercise that will do TWO THINGS:
1. Build Six Pack Abs with emphasis on the lower abs
2. Strengthen your TVA (transverse abdominals) – This is like your deep abs muscles which keeps your core strong, tight and rigid. This will give you washboard abs if you get your body-fat low enough.
It seems that people really underestimate the importance of the TVA in building super sexy abs. It is this very muscle that fights against the muscle gut look. Therefore it is essential to dedicate time to this muscle.
Nothing looks better than having perfect six pack abs! Ask any girl and she’ll tell you the same thing. A super defined midsection is a true sign of dedication and that is why most people will never have true six pack abs. In order to to achieve six pack abs you have to really be watching what your eating otherwise you will have a nice layer of fat covering up those abdominals.
However there will come a point in time when you’ve dieted hard and performed lots of ultimate fat burning workouts. It is at this point that you will have very little fat on your body but if you weren’t training your abs properly chances are they won’t look quite as sharp as you hoped.
This is where we got to rev up the core workouts and build some visually stunning razor sharp abs. But before I get to that I am going to show you guys what you should NOT be doing.
